More 65 classrooms commissioned in Kigali

The State Minister in charge of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Mathias Harebamungu, Thursday officially opened 65 classrooms for the Nine-Year Basic Education (9-YBE) programme in various sectors of Gasabo District.

The classrooms were constructed in Kimihurura, Ndera, Kinyinya and Bumbogo sectors.

Speaking to the district officials and residents in Bumbogo sector, Dr Harebamungu hailed Bumbogo residents for their strong collaboration with the district, saying that it was among the factors that enabled the classrooms to be completed on time.

According to the Mayor of Gasabo Distirct, Willy Ndizeye, residents of Bumbogo contributed Rwf 6 million to the project.

“Gasabo District is ranked third countrywide in as far as constructing the classrooms for the Nine-Year Basic Education, and I want to thank and congratulate every resident and official in this District because you have really done a great job,” Harebamungu said.

He requested them to be prepared to work with and support the government in the upcoming 12-Year Basic Education Programme.
