The Rector thanked KIST students for the warm welcome accorded to her and acceptance of the invitation to meet KIST Senior Management.
She informed students that she came to be their servant and therefore urged them to help her serve them.
She undertook to contribute to quality education at KIST and to the provision of service to the community for the betterment of Rwanda.
In a filled beyond capacity KIST auditorium, the rector took time to answer questions from students, most of the questions asked hinged around issues like the living allowance for students, money for industrial attachment, medical insurance, the increase in tuition fees for privately sponsored students, compulsory attendance, unfilled academic positions of staff who left KIST which affects the studies of students, complains about the way KISTAS members are elected, student hostels etc.
The rector together with VRA and VRAF answered most of the questions in a lively debate that lasted close to three hours. The questions that were not answered due to time, the rector requested students to write them down and forward them to her which they did, she promised to set some time aside to read and make a follow up on every question raised by the students.
The rector also challenged the departments of electronics and electrical engineering together with that of computer engineering department that we need to have a KIST radio station on campus.
The meeting ended by a vote of thanks from the rector to the students for the very big turn up and promised that they will be meeting regularly in future to address issues that require intervention from the senior management.
