Instructors of Information Technology (IT) from Teacher Training Colleges have described the Education Portal
as resourceful and easy to use. This was during a one-day training
session held 4th June, at Kigali Institute of Education, organised by
Rwanda Education Commons, a USAID funded project that is hosted at the Ministry of Education.
They reviewed how content is displayed on
the portal and discussed ways teacher and learners can share ideas and
information using its discussion forum.
The training was conducted by the REC Technology Specialist, Ildephonse Bikino, together with the REC Programme Manager Steven Ehrenberg.
"The focus is to build communities where teachers and learners can
share resources and discuss ideas," Steven said while explaining why the portal was set up for educators to interact and share experiences.
Ngamije Herbert, an IT instructor from Matimba TTC, described the portal
as the best alternative source of teaching materials to supplement what they already have. He promised to promote it among fellow teachers.
The training session follows another one conducted at TTC SAVE last week and attended by principals and
IT instructors of all TTCs.
To ensure that TTC communities access the portal, REC partnered with Rwanda Utility Regulatory Agency (RURA), MINEDUC and Artel to avail free internet connectivity to all TTCs. |
