Higher Education for Development (HED), in cooperation with the
United States Agency for International Development in Rwanda
(USAID)/Rwanda, is issuing a Request for Applications (RFA) for women’s
leadership in education in Rwanda.
HED expects to make one (1) award of up to $1,080,000 for
the period from October 1, 2012 to June 30, 2015 for a higher education
partnership between one or more higher education institution(s) in the
United States and the Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) in Kigali,
Rwanda. The partnership’s goal is to support the Government of Rwanda
and USAID/Rwanda’s education development goals that promote gender
equality and female empowerment.
This partnership is part of a
broader new effort known as the Women’s Leadership Program, whose
purpose is to support national and local development goals that promote
gender equality and female empowerment. Subject to the availability of
U.S. government funding, HED anticipates issuing a total of five RFAs
for higher education partnerships under the Women’s Leadership Program
in Rwanda (2), Paraguay, South Sudan and Armenia.
